Jumped into the car and drove to Jericho near UBC to take some quick shots of the moon (super moon ? blood moon ? ) the MOON. Looking east I could not see it, well that was because with the partial eclipse which was ongoing from the moon rise, it was too under lit by the sun. and looked pale until the sun had set and it became dark enough to really see the moon.
Here are some shots, Jericho / Spanish banks, people getting ready to shoot and some wide angle shots.
I was shooting manual iso 500 – then up to iso 1600 using my sigma 400mm, 105mm f2.5 and 24 f2.8
Manual lens magic. Moon!
ILLUMINATED? Well on Fire more like it.
Wanted to share this picture and the story #Vancouver BC, and the Lions Gate Bridge (in the background) is in a haze. Smoke from forest fires burning around British Columbia filled the coastal areas. Heroes, the firefighters, volunteers and tree fellers, are fighting the blazes around the province (and world wide) protecting and saving lives, homes, and keeping us safe – this has been one of the driest seasons on record and thus far over 800 fires have sprung up around the province.
More information on being fire safe can be found on the BC Wildfire service: http://bcwildfire.ca/index.htm
The shot was done with my #Nikkor #18-200VR my trusty #D300s on a tripod at ISO 500. I grabbed my mobile phone and tried to stand as still as possible.
Here are a few more shots from that night
I have been invited to a new project called Undefined Video (www.undefinedvideo.com) where we will post random videos of random people doing random stuff. And not just people! For example, here is me messing around with a 50mm ais 1.4 handheld and my d300s filming BABY GEESE!
On Saturday Morning this long weekend I had ventured out to Iona for an early morning hunt and shoot. The Iona Beach Park opens at 8 am, so being early means you have to wait in the car as there is no where to really park outside the park (park your car that is ).
Within the park the number of ducks and waterfowl has decreased from the winter months when migratory birds come to visit the Lower Mainland, but the park is alive, from insects buzzing, to baby geese chasing them and nibbling on grass and swallows and goldfinches flying through the air singing and chirping.
Here is a quick part one of the life i saw in the park, these are mainly insects.
Also check out the link to Sean M – he was doing some amazing macro photography of bugs at the park as well – (his flickr link ). Always a pleasure to meet a great photographer!
Downtown Vancouver, while everyone was happily getting ready to watch Game of Thrones there was a shoot happening. Cobalt Crew and thats all that I could find out, no one would say what the shoot was about. It was on Pender and Thurlow with lots of CA Police and News.
I got two shots off before the staff sternly warned me off. Looks like a zombie apocalypse Fear the Walking Dead.
Couple of Pics Here:
See more here.
Took some pictures while on a hike in Squamish British Columbia last weekend. The view from Chiefs’ first peak was quite amazing of the valley below to the north, and to the south was Howe Sound. Truly truly beautiful.
Here is a shot of Mount Garibaldi which is to the north of the Chief. I used my 18-200 mm lens and focused on infinity. I did do some post production because of the ultraviolet light was very bright in sunshine and because I did not have any filters with me.
How about some more pictures from my phone too. And just below is the super large picture if you want it for a wallpaper.
Ran into the VPD Traffic Enforcement Unit down on Denman and Georgia this Saturday in Vancouver … with the motorcycles lined up and shining in the weekend sun I was able to snap some photos.
The great battle of mid day sun and its shadows vs … well a camera. 🙂
Here are some of those. With logo and without.
Hastings and Seymour corner has the Grant Thornton Place which features a dome-covered open-air plaza at the northwest corner of Hastings and Seymour streets. Which has a very neat acoustic property which allows this musician who I snapped with a 50mm on my D300s while he was jamming. A single speaker on a strap with a battery and his guitar and the dome is filled with sound.
